1116797, the game repeats with all the cool stuff recieved, I think that was cool, maybe an ability to unlock more ships, and as someone else said get someone to make original music or use royalty free music (via Newgrounds audio portal)
This is really fun and harks back to games like Galaga and Radius (I forgot if that was the name)
The weapon upgrades are fun, but the bosses can be too hard, and frustrating with little or no warning and extremely hard to dodge patterns, overall a great game
The game is well done, with or without music. The controls are easy to understand and work nicely. Sometimes with really a lot sprites on the screen the game starts to get a little sugglish on my computer (but it isn't the fastest, after all). The weapon upgrades are numerous and pretty fast to archieve even if you just lost a live. The cosmic ray weapon of the foes seems a little too strong - there doesn't seem to be a warning, and if it hits you, you're pretty much doomed. Of course, then again this supports me remembering which kind of ships fire those shots and not fly in front of them The pink 'laser' for some reason makes to impression of being a weak weapon to me , even though it has the advantage of shooting behind you too - maybe it would help making the shot look less scattered - like in star-form, this will make the weapon seem more attractive. Another nitpick I have are the level 1 and level 3 bosses - they can just withstand too much, it sends to get a tad boring after shooting on them for minutes with bombs and everything and not seeing any effect - on the level two boss it changes shapes which keeps it exciting. Despite of that, the graphical work is definitely something one would see in a fully-blown shoot-em-up game. What would be a good idea is to find an artist making the appropriate music and make the game as some kind of collaboration - dmusic.com might be a start, even if I've never been there too much. You could make an alternating level design too, a level could be ice-cave like (ice-crystal asteroids, maybe even make it so you shouldn't fly into the walls of a huge asteroid you are flying through?)
All in all, brilliant and very well done work, I love it
Yes, one terrible (terrible!) problem I'm having are the HP in the level 1 and 3 bosses, it's a hard choice as I do not know what kind of weapon the player has when they get to the boss. With the fully powered up laser they could kill it in a second, and the pea-shooter will take minutes... >_< Either way, the follow up game I'm making will have less range in the power (and speed ^_^) with the three weapons so I don't need to worry about that.
And thanks for the link, I'll check it out, to see if I have any luck with getting free music and surely, the new game I'm making will have better level designs. Ice crystal asteroids sound great - I may use that. Thanks a lot! Long comments always make my day.
