ARROWS to move, SPACE to shoot, C to clear screen (and watch fireworks =P)!

Nothing big here, just a preview of a Geo-Wars style game by me and Nuistyles. Never played it before, but I've seen some cool trailers =) Suggestions welcome!

I don't get it. Hehe, like how to play, but this is slow-game-girl speaking. It is very well done though, nice job. I've seen a lot of flash games that are not nearly as good as this. Although when I was (attempting) to play it, I noticed that you had to really hold and keep down the space bar for it to shoot, so maybe a faster shooting time? After a few minutes of playing, and then realized I couldn't, I had fun with the clear screen button, lots of pretty colors, I loved it. :D

Its awsoem! Very confusing cuz of the firework,s , and sometimes its hard to kill the little gruntlings :p

It looks stunning, especially with the many different fireworks effects, eeven though there's a little too much going on in the playfield for me, at times it's hard to find the own space ship between all the enemies and such ^^; There are lot of neats things I noticed though, which show the effort put into the game, such as the effects of enemies beaming in and beaming out, which are simple but effective, or that you can go straight, but also diagonal and then going straight again would make the spaceship make a turn instead of just going into that direction - I can imagine that might be a little unexpected in a highly active combat though (though you probably want to focus on the fireworks, seeing you named this deviation "fireworks engine", right? X3 ) . As for special effects, you're on neopets, right? Have you tried the game "the second return of dr. sloth"? It has a few cool special effects, like the shockwave at the very beginning in there, and it's fun to play because there are so many different ways to collect points, so if you haven't looked at it in that way yet, give it a try and pick out the nicest features for yourself :3 Suggestion-wise I don't have a whole lot to suggest, since you're showing off the new engine, I'd say, and I think it works well - the fireworks look good especially because of that variety and have a satifying effect - of course, you could try keeping them in one colour mostly (the small-bursts one in particular) and reserve the funky ones for the real big monsters (together with those dr.sloth shockwaves and everything). :aww:

I don't think I see a shockwave effect.. were you referring to [link] ? =P The game has loads of cool idea though, like the flying particles after you get destroyed, and the points floating to the side of the screen after you get em. Maybe I should play more neopet games for more ideas :)

Speaking of shockwaves, I think I have one - [link] were you lookin for something like the one on the top-right corner? i'm happy to put that in!

Almost ;P Maybe we're talking about different kinds of effects - alright, here it goes. Go to [link] , load up the game so the start screen shows. Got it? Awesome :aww: Now make sure your speaker are all plugged in and set to a convenient volume. Prepare yourself, get ready and click the "Play Game" button. .. Hear that? Aha, see? That's what I was talking about :giggle:

The shockwaves in the flash movies look all good, by the way - the bottom left reminds me a little of the meteors in your easter game, the bottom right would go great with some defective circuits or switch, and the top right one - well, with impressive sound and in-game effects it'd make a good secondary weapon even better, don't you think so? :aww:

Oh yea I see it ^^ The shockwave kinda makes a cool effect for the clearscreen function, maybe I could implement that depending on how well it does. Thanks for all the suggestions, they're really helpful :D

Once again, the gameplay is very smooth and the graphics go together excellently :)
Is this the speed it's going to be at in the actual game? I think it might work better to have it start out a bit slower; the motion can be hard to follow at first. But the fireworks effect is awesome!

I have lots to say for this:

This is beautiful flash "game" stuff :D, with a good working on it it can be an awsome game for all :D

so here's my ideas:

1> Make an option for 2 types of controls, one of them the way you have and the other just using left (anti-clock) and right (clock). As I am more used to left-right controls I found this one a bit hard to handle =p

2> A scoring system, say those pink butterfly yoke worth 5 points and the blue ones 3 points etc etc, or all worth 1 point

3> pop-up powerups like split-shot or spray-shot, even more spetacular explosions! :D, these powerups are of finite time

4> Make the game finite - something like the ship can get hit 1000 times before blows up. Seemed that all those floating yokes are attracted to the ship.

5> perhaps some other NPC coming in try shoot you down or maybe landing you a hand cleaning the screen etc. a shot from him = 250 yoke hits.

6> If possible, make the shots scroll accross the screen instead of ending them at the edges - say those shots can travel 1/2 screen at full blast

7> Make big ones that splits up into loads of lil yokes when hit.

If you don't want to have the "getting hit 5000 times idea" we can always make a "timed" one. Say how many points we can destroy in - say 2 minutes.

Not all of my ideas have to be made =p

8> With all these you want to have a message bar at the bottom saying the power up you just picked, HP/Time remaining and score etc etc.

9> How about making a new yoke - a square, upon hitting it you get a star bonus that lasts some 3 seconds and you get 5 points for picking it up.

10> P to pause, and other buttons for something else =p

11> My bomb (clear screen button) can work - but it's super rare to find it

12> Power ups can be something like
increase time (15, 30, 60 seconds etc)/repair ship (10, 25, 50, 100 hits etc),
split shot (and upgrade),
spray shot (and upgrade),
10 pointer, 25 pointer, 50 pointer, 100 pointer, -20 pointer, -100 pointer etc etc,
a nova (less intense than a bomb, with blast radius of some 1/4 screen =p),
Boost (increases the ship's rotating/travelling velocity)
Slug (opposite of above)


These upgrades are size of the ship

13> How about make the intensity of the firework optionable - from super, normal, little and none

14> HOST HIGH SCORE DAMMIT! =p

15> No levelling and lives plz

16> 2 players compatability? That sounds cool
